History, Organization and Capabilities

Rand Construction Company has been in business since 1962 when the late Earl Rand Sr. started Rand & Son Mechanical. Daniel Hinrichs, the current owner, joined Rand Construction Company in 2006 after a long history of successful construction experience and subsequently purchased the company. Rand has the unique advantage of being a mid-sized, highly diversified sole proprietorship. Unlike many of our competitors, our organization is clear and we have a president who is our owner and is accessible for client needs.

At present, Rand Construction offers a full range of construction services. We started as a mechanical contractor specializing in industrial piping. Over the course of a few decades, the company has expanded our work to include General Contracting, Millwright, Ironwork, Boilermaker, Plumbing & HVAC Service, and Commercial and Institutional Piping.

Rand has successfully served client’s needs ranging from small projects to a number of projects in excess of $15M. Rand’s current bonding capacity for individual contracts is in excess of $50,000,000.00 with a total capacity of $100,000,000.00.

Our offices, shops and warehouses are located on a 3.5-acre tract in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The 9,200 square foot office complex houses Project Managers/Estimators, a Quality Control Manager, Safety Director, Office and Human Resources Manager, an Accounting team and Administrative staff. Rand has two warehouse buildings with over 28,000 square feet of storage space. Our piping fabrication shop has 8,500 square feet and includes seven multi-functional welding stations with four large jib cranes to move pipe from the delivery truck to the workstation. Rand Construction Company is fully ASME Certified, ASHE Certified and our plumbers are medical gas certified.

Rand has the experience and staff to manage concurrent, geographically separated construction projects. We have completed projects or have ongoing projects in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska, Guam, Cuba and 20 other states within the continental United States. Many of these projects were under Rand’s active management at the same time.
