Procure and install Mechanical, Plumbing, and Life Safety Systems for the new Sea Lions Exhibit at the Omaha Zoo in Nebraska.
This project was performed during two of the wettest seasons recorded in 100 years. The location was in a low elevation spot of the surrounding terrain and dewatering was its own challenge throughout the entire project.
There was a 70ft range from the lowest point of underground piping to the upper elevated structures where piping ran in and out. Because of this elevation difference and the elevation difference of the pool, piping systems, and structures for the various types of pool equipment, the routing of pipe increased in complexity.
Another challenge was to keep the multiple piping systems identified, supported, and protected from damage while other construction activities were taking place above and around the project site.
